Hearts First Jog – Canary Wharf 2007

A heartfelt thank you from everyone at the British Heart Foundation for taking part in this year’s jog on Wednesday 6 June! Thanks to the money you raise the BHF can make even more progress saving lives through pioneering research, patient care and vital information. We were overwhelmed by the success of this year’s jog; it simply wouldn’t have been possible without you. Over 1,500 participants registered for 11th year of the jog, with the atmosphere positively alive down in Canada Square Park.

People were once again bustling to sign up at the last minute, the unstoppable Ascension Eagles cheerleader’s team were out in force with their encouraging chants, and the sea of red t-shirts that filled the park during Reebok Sports Club’s energetic warm up was truly inspiring. We had some great entertainment out and about along the course and thankfully, despite an abundance of banana skins at the finish, nobody actually slipped on one. All in all it was an incredible success with corporate teams, families and individual participants coming out to enjoy the evening and support the BHF. Many thanks also to our regular host Mark Peters and to BHF Chief Executive Peter Hollins for starting off the race.

Visit the Function Photography website (password HEARTSFIRSTJOG) to see photos from the day, the BHF will benefit from a 20% donation from every picture sold. In 2006 we raised over £140,000 from the Canary Wharf Jog and with your help we can raise even more in 2007. The BHF is the nation’s heart charity and we rely on your donations of time and money to continue our life-saving work and keep hearts beating.

Entry into the jog was once again free of charge, giving everyone the opportunity of taking part. Every penny counts, so try to ask friends, family, work colleagues or anyone else you can think of to sponsor you. Don’t forget that if you send in a fully completed sponsorship form, we can collect an additional 28p for every £1 collected via Gift Aid (if the sponsor is a UK taxpayer).

It’s an easy way to help us and makes a real difference. And in case you didn’t already know, anyone who raises over £350 will receive a light grey hooded sweatshirt or a dark grey zip-up fleece. Check the back of your sponsor form for more details.

Finally, a sincere thanks to all our supporters and who helped make this another fantastic year; Reebok Sports Club, Waitrose, Runners Need, Heart 106.2, Exceptional Health & Chris Lawson, Company Water Ltd, The Wharf, AVT, M&S Medical, Kite & Balloon Co, Countess Marquees, SLS, FPS, Richard Weaver Films and of course Canary Wharf Group Arts & Events. We look forward to seeing you next year!
