How does it work?Tui Na is one of the modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory. Fundamental to this theory is Qi, the vital energy in the body. It is a hands-on massage using elbows, knees, fingers, manipulation, acupressure as well as ancillary external herbal poultices to restore the balance of the vital energy. On top of the above Tuina also uses Cupping, Qua Sha and moxibustion when necessary to affect return to balance of the Qi energy. They are as below: a) Cupping is the placing of vacuum jars on the body to move stagnation and congestion in the soft tissues and energy channels in the body. This is very good for pain, colds, flu and immune deficiency. b) Qua Sha is a technique to ease pain relieve, drain toxicity, improve circulation and help with fatigue, inflammation and most kinds of physical or emotional stress. Gua Sha is used in combination with cupping, moxibustion. Tuina and Acupuncture. c) Moxibustion: The burning of the herb "mugwort" over the acupuncture points either on the needle or in a box, to warm and invigorate the circulation, excellent for weak patients or chronic arthritis. d) Qi healing is also used when necessary to enhance the healing experience. The ancient Chinese believe that when the health and vitality of the body is out of balance, the Qi flow is obstructed, this can affect stiffness, illness and emotional pain in the body. What can Tuina treat?Tuina can treat chronic pain, caused by musculoskeletal conditions and injuries such as whiplash. It is particularly effective for neck, shoulder, back, sciatica, tennis and golfers elbow. Tuina can also treat headaches, migraines, IBS, constipation, PMS and other stress related problems.
