Akhil Patel, qualified in Osteopathic and Naturopathic medicine. I specialise in Sports injuries and currently work in Dartford, Bank and Canary Wharf.

I studied in London at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine on a 5 year Osteopathic Medicine degree program in which I spent my final year specialising in Nutrition and Sports injuries. As a very keen sportsman, specialising in sports injuries was always my goal as it allows me to incorporate my passion for sport with my profession.

Osteopathy has come a long way from its "bones crackers" labelling, and my unique style of holistic treatment combines the most effective classical techniques with the latest forms of curing and preventing all types of musculoskeletal aches and pains. Mobilisation of joints, either spinal or peripheral, can significantly reduce pain and improve joint movement. Manipulation also has extremely beneficial results with pain and general movement. Patients are always given specific easy-to-do exercises that wonít take up too much time; as this helps in the long-term.

Osteopaths specialise more specifically with back pain, acute or chronic. More than half of all the patients I see are presenting with varying levels of back pain, from those who take 5 minutes to crawl in, to those who have a slight dull ache in their lower back. For the majority of patients 1 or 2 sessions is sufficient to cure and reduce reoccurrence, those more serious are seen rarely more than 5 times, as it is cured or the patient referred for further investigation.

Possibly the most important part of Osteopathy is the fact that we have TIME for each individual patient. Spending 45 minutes in an Osteopathic consultation is like spending 45 minutes with an Orthopaedic specialist, as that is exactly what we are. The only difference is that it won't cost you and arm and a leg, and we don't fob you off with medication!
