The issues with energy drinks is that they are full of sugars and chemicals and therefore I am excited at discovering a new product which has taken America by storm. In fact it is called “The Young People’s Revolution” as many students drink energy drinks.
It has now ventured into Europe and I would like to introduce you all to Vemma – a natural health product. There are four products whose main ingredient is Mangosteen which has amazing healing properties and is an anti-oxidant.
After much research on my part, we at Exceptional Health have joined forces with them.

Funny title I’m sure some are thinking. Spring Equinox is today and if you know anything about the Mayan ceremony, it was all about re-birth, re-connection and new beginnings.

Why I relate this to Cannabis is because I have been working with a client who for the last 20 something years has smoked Cannabis just like some would have a glass or 2 of wine of an evening. He smokes to relax and calm himself from his busy work day, although for the past year he has noticed that actually it does not seem to having that effect on him anymore. What he has been noticing more is he is not actually allowing the enjoyment of it, he mentioned that it irritates his chest, where he may have a coughing fit when smoking and then automatically goes into self destruct by telling himself off for smoking it!

My question to him was the point of giving yourself a hard time is? Surely that takes away the reasons for smoking because it sounds to me that it is actauulty causing more stress in his system.

He has been having a combination of massage, cranial and homeopathy, so a month ago when he agreed to look at stopping and using other things to help relax him, together we have been gearing up for today.

He is on remedies for cravings of tobacco, de-tox of liver and cannabis for his physical self. It will be a hard journey and we have had to devise plans to do things differently of an evening so that when he feels he can’t relax after a busy day, practical stuff to slow him down.

Yes early days but he says I can write about his experience on facebook and blog, tracking his progress and sharing what challenges he is going to have to work through.

What mostly makes me smile is his curiousity to notice the difference he will feel by not smoking the dope, I’ve asked him firstly to notice his sense of self in the mornings. Wishing you loads of luck with your new adventure too!

This is something that I have been asking people recently as it interests me on what we think brings us well being.

Here are some of the things said: money, health, happiness, love, kindness, the pub, holidays and Botox! Any of these are true for that particular person as well being for one does not mean the same for everybody.

Well being literally means exactly that, where a person feels well in their very being without the stresses and tensions taking over, they feel well.

When I think of my own well being, yes I can say I think of it in regards to my health but I also notice that feeling that well being also includes getting out of London and enjoying what is around me which contributes to my well being.

I had a debate with my cousin recently about Botox, she thought it was poison and the people that do have it done were not able to cope with getting older gracefully! I had to point out that actually Botox can be used for a number of things, medically as well as beauty. I also mentioned that if that is what makes a person feel well within their being, especially emotionally then that can only be a good thing, no?

Well being effects our whole self, not just physically but also emotionally and if that means that a person can feel good then to be in that moment will have an uplifting effect on their whole system. This is about the wellness of ourselves and what ever that looks like to a person can only be that they do things that are good for their soul.

We all have ways to cope with life and we all do things to combat that and just because it is not necessarily a particular healthy option of well being it if it lifts your soul that to me is well being.

Cold sores, which I myself suffer with, people generally feel hideous when blisters appear on our lips.

Cold sores, which I myself suffer with, people generally feel hideous when blisters appear on our lips.

I have a client who suffers really badly, she has many major health issues and is on a range of medication, some of which are steroid based, therefore her immune system is mostly out of kilter. When she really gets run down, her lips and nose area burst out in blister, so much so that most of her lips are covered.

A while ago now I made her up a oil mix to use on them to help healing, although after seeing her with a lip full of them, she told me she puts the oil on morning and night. I had to explain that she was to use the oil mix on them as much as possible, to keep re-applying through out the day.

I have also discovered a homeopathic remedy that I have tested on myself over the last few months. As soon as I feel a tingling sensation going on I have been taking the remedy, as well as using the oil and my cold sores don’t even blister. I still get a scab but it is flat, dried out and after 24 hours of taking the remedy the cold sore has scabbed over.

I used to always have Zovirex for them but read up about an essential oil, so tested it on myself. And recently came across the homeopathic remedy that stops them blistering. After it has scabbed then I also take another remedy for healing and instead of feeling hideous you would actually have to look very hard at my lips to notice I have one! Happy Days.

My client with health issues texted me to say she needed top up of oil, as been feeling the tingle! I mentioned the remedy to see if she would give it a go. she took the remedy on Wednesday night as instructed. As she lives on my road, I popped in yesterday and she was extremely pleased that they had not blistered, could hardly be seen and dried out already.

If you suffer with cold sores and you want to know more about my remedies, please contact me either by e-mail or mobile.

I want to educate people and would like to see a more eclectic approach to health.

As most of you know from past blogs or facebook page, I no longer have a specific clinic in Canary Wharf. I am still coming to the wharf but have moved locations. I am now working every Friday from 10am – 8pm at 5, Harbour Exchange, 3rd floor, E14 9GE. it is nearer to South Quay DLR. If you wish to make an appointment either contact me via e-mail or mobile which is on my web site.

2013 brings huge changes and challenges for me. I have set up in Hackney and found myself doing a few more home visits than before, which I don’t mind as would rather be working. I am looking more creatively on how to continue doing what I do not only to earn a living but to offer my skills to a wider client base and keep expanding on that.

When one is so passionate about their work, which dare I say that I don’t suppose a huge number of us feel this about their careers. Although I have been a practitioner for 16 years every day I discover something new about the reaction of the body, mind and spirit. OK, its true that everybody I treat is different and yes therefore will always get diffreent reactions, so easy to say.

For me its not always about fixing someone but to enable them to notice how their bodies work, how stress, the mind effects us. I was taught by Dr Mick MacKensie that ‘noticing fixes more than fixing’ I use his quote lots when working with clients.

I want to educate people and would like to see a more eclectic approach to health. What do I mean by this ? My view to better health would be in the education. For example, instead of pain killers for say a back problem, to which client has gone to the doctors, why not be told that seeing a Osteopath, having Sports massage or Physio would be their next step. Why is it that pills, pain killers with these issues are the first port of call by the medical profession?

This is what I would like to see going forward and I do think that someday soon we are going to have to rethink how to approach repetitive issues as we work longer hours, work loads increase, cut backs and therefore our stress levels impact not only our very being. A pill cannot always fix things but managing our health with a different approach can!

I have worked with many forms of IBS over the years and it's interesting how many people are given that diagnosis by GP's

I have worked with many forms of IBS over the years and it’s interesting how many people are given that diagnosis by GP’s. It does seem that more and more of us get that bloated feeling, fluctuate between constipation and loose bowels, get cramp after eating, feel nausea, and generally feel unwell when it comes to the stomach area.

When I have clients come to see me for IBS, I look at a number of factors. Firstly their stress, because if you think about it, the solar plexus chakra area is ones power-point, think of when you last got excited or really anxious about something, you feel a sensation in that area, the pelvis relates to sexual/emotional chakra and between those are stomach, intestines so yes stress has a huge impact.

The other factor I look at is bowel flora, we all have it but sometimes we have an overload of bad flora and besides recommending diet changes, I would sometimes suggest that pro-biotics would help to balance the bowel flora.

There are many forms of pro-biotics out there, from a natural live bio-yogurts, drinks or getting it in supplement form. I find though that it is worth paying the money to get good supplements. Kefir, which I use is free, well kind of, all it costs me is the price of feeding the live bacteria which I cultivate and decant the juice every 4 days. the juice is full of good bacteria and it grows by feeding it unrefined sugar, fresh lemon(un-waxed|) and un-sulphured dried fruit and sometimes I use lime, ginger, raisins, fresh fruit especially when strawberries are in season.

It takes a bit of getting used to as it tastes somewhere between sharpness, sweetness and definately fermented! Also it is a bit like having a pet as it needs regular feeding every 4 days and washed! My daughter of 8 years thinks I am quite barmy for drinking it as she tried it once and the face wqas a classic!

The benefits I have felt are I don’t get as bloated, I don’t have IBS generally but know if I combine a heavy meal with a pudding my stomach tends to swell and I feel uncomfortable but drinking this helps that not to happen.

If anyone is interested in doing this for themselves, please contact me as it does grow and I would rather someone take it than throw it away and like I said, its a lot cheaper than buying pro-biotics which if there is a problem with bowel flora then one needs to be on them for at least 3-6 months.

Homeopathy - do you believe? I am not a 'hippy' nor do I profess to 'cure' illness.

Homeopathy – do you believe? I am not a ‘hippy’ nor do I profess to ‘cure’ illness.

I can only comment on my experience using remedies and seeing amazing results with remedies. Prime examples: majority of us have heard what Arnica can do; I’ve seen a lump the size of a golf ball, on a child’s forehead after stacking a BMX, bouncing onto concrete, be flattened by taking this remedy over 2 hours not long after and again a child, hit a wooden beam running with nose, by the evening, she was so blackened round her eyes and nose, bruising drawn out fully with arnica.

Another remedy, how it convinced one of my cynical friends to help manage food poisoning, her symptoms not pleasant I assure you! It supported an acute reaction with instant results. I have so many examples but I’d bore you as a reader!

I am amazed by science discoveries, evolvement in this world, life is different. We to have evolved in our systems. My approach is supporting the bodies system, alongside allopathic medicine if this is the case.

Remedies work is all I can say, I have seen with my own eyes, to explain it who knows? There is no science per say!

We have evolved and life is more amazing with ‘stuff’ that are we more acutely sensitive? People hit harder by illness and I’ve treated IBS, allergies, asthma, eczema, cfs, SAD, MS, tension, sports injuries, HBP, headaches, fertility, skin, RSI, the list goes on. I’m 45 and I don’t remember us as kids having as many allergic, asthmatic, eczema in children at school?

Amazing that a list of illnesses of patients where the symptoms have been investigated medically only to be told there is nothing wrong, yet the symptoms are still being experienced. Evolved sensitivity of our systems to keep up with this evolved world does not always have a absolute explanation either medically or how remedies work!

I can support illnesses this winter for anyone that asks, I’m often found to spurting out a remedy name on hearing symptoms even to complete strangers who’s conversation I’ve listened to out and about!

For me it works, I have so many proving’s, that’s all my belief system can go on. To support in a more sensitive way to our sensitive systems!

I have realised that although I have been a therapist for a long time and a lot of my work is referrals there is still marketing to do if I am to create new work.

As always I say that I will do weekly blog but even though I say it, do I do it? Somewhere along the line I distract myself and always find something else to do!

I have realised that although I have been a therapist for a long time and a lot of my work is referrals there is still marketing to do if I am to create new work.

I have redesigned new leaflets, had a new Facebook page done, actually learnt how to use it and opened a new clinic in Hackney. Today I am seeing my first client from my leaflets campaign, which does not sound a lot but to me makes my getting on my bike to put leaflets around Hackney worth while! I know that it takes a while to get people to realise that I am here and most clients who now see me in the Hackney clinic have been referred to me by other clients, to which I am hugely grateful for and reiterates my worth as a therapist.

I always talk to people when I am out and about, especially when I hear them talking about health issues they are having, and that could be a complete stranger but feel I have the knowledge that I could improve their health in a different approach where conventional medicine has not helped.

I would also ask anyone who has had treatments with me to write a recommendation about their experience and either email me with it so that I can put on my web site under testimonials or like Exceptional Health on Facebook where there is a section to write recommendations.

I will also be moving locations in Canary Wharf from December and will let you know where that will be.
